Dress In The Bohemian Style This Spring

Posted on: 6 April 2017

Spring is the season when the lighter layers come out and when you can add more color and florals to your wardrobe. This is naturally also a great time to go for the bohemian look. With bohemian fashion, you are combining florals and other feminine patterns while focusing on more flowing fabrics. Here are some different ways to add some bohemian flair to your spring wardrobe.

Wear Long, Flowy Skirts

The first thing to add to your spring bohemian wardrobe is a long, flowy skirt. Loose fabrics are a big part of the bohemian style, ranging from pastel colors to bright florals. While neutral colors are often included, you won't see many solid colors from head to toe in this particular style. The great thing about these long skirts is that they can be dressed up or dressed down. They fit in with a casual day of shopping by pairing them with a simple t-shirt or tank top, or you can dress it up to go on a date or a night of drinking with your friends.

Try a Bohemian Romper

Rompers have been in style for a while, and they aren't going anywhere. A romper is essentially a one-piece outfit where the top and shorts are combined. The main difference between a romper and dress is of course that the bottom is more similar to shorts, which is good if you're afraid to wear a short skirt. There are many types of rompers out there, but the bohemian rompers tend to have boho, chic patterns and looser material. These can also be worn as a dressy or casual look depending on your choice of shoes and accessories.

Choose Loose Blouses With Florals

For your tops, ditch the t-shirts if you want to go bohemian, unless you are pairing it with a skirt to express your boho style. However, if you are wearing jeans or shorts, go ahead and put on a loose blouse, preferably one with some florals or similar colorful patterns. These can have short or long sleeves, though it should be a lighter material to be perfect for the spring bohemian look.

Don't Forget the Accessories

One thing you will notice with this fashion style is that a lot of accessories are worn. Don't be shy to go overboard on the jewelry, piling on the bangles and bracelets, big stone rings, and long necklaces. Layering necklaces is not uncommon with this style, so be bold. With shoes, strappy sandals, gladiator sandals, and flats are commonly found. A big floppy hat is another great option.

The Power of Color

As a kid, I didn’t think much about the clothes I wore. I was only concerned with how comfortable they were. I often erroneously associated stylish clothing with pain. I didn’t think I could be comfortable in anything the latest runway models were wearing. Besides dressing in clothing that was too large for my body, I typically always chose black items to wear. I mistakenly believed wearing something black would make me look thinner regardless of the style or cut of a piece of clothing. Thankfully, in my adult years, I’ve learned to embrace color. Wearing my favorite colors always brightens my mood and gives me confidence. On this blog, I hope you will learn ways to add vivid, cheerful color to your wardrobe.
